Jo Ann (Jody) Smith

Jo Ann (Jody) Smith left this earth on March 17, 2017 to join her heavenly father. Preceding her in death are grandparents, Clarence and Amelia Rosser; parents; Edmon and Leonida (Babe) Coleman and son, Robbie Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years Herman (Smitty) Smith, son Edmon (Ed) Smith and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and remembered with love by many other family members and friends.

Jo Ann was born in Goose Creek TX, May 8, 1936. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1954, and began her nursing career. On April 8, 1961 she married her love, Herman (Smitty) and was blessed by God with two sons, Ed and Robbie.

She worked in her husband business for 18 years, and just days ago received her 50 year pin from the Eastern Star Chapter #798.

Our gratitude to Dr. Terry, Faith Community Hospice, The Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center of Baytown, and all those who spent many hours at her side during her illness.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 20, 2017 beginning at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown TX 77521. Services will be Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be officiated by her cousin Troy Moore and the Eastern Star. Burial will follow at Ryan Cemetery Tarkington Prairie, TX.

Serving as pallbearers will be Charlie Thorpe, Steve Brown, Hank DeBrul, Don Lamb, Sherwood Barefoot, and Skipper Brown.
