John Singleton Jr., a resident of Baytown, passed away Monday, September 26, 2005 in Bryan, TX. He was born March 24, 1929 in Plains, GA, and he spent the majority of his adult life in Chicago, Illinois. John served as a Marine in the Korean War and retired from the Chicago Transit Authority in 1989.
He was an elder in the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was a devoted husband, father, and friend who will be greatly missed by many.
His parents, Alice Mae Pace and John Singleton, Sr., precede him in death.
John is survived by his wife of thirty-one years, Carol Singleton and his children: Janet Singleton of Denver, CO; Byron Singleton of Houston, TX; Alice Singleton of Chicago, IL; Bryan Singleton and wife Sharlene of Baytown, TX; Jeffrey Singleton of Chicago, IL; Reginald Singleton and wife Sherri of Mebane, NC; Philip Singleton of Baytown, TX; Marc Singleton of Baytown, TX; Christi Singleton-Motte and husband Dana of Baytown, TX; and Traci Singleton of Baytown, TX.
His fourteen, beloved grandchildren also survive him. The memorial service will be on October 8, 2005 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses: 1102 Cedar Bayou Rd., Baytown, TX.
