Ann and I remember Joe at the Platt family reunions at Salmon Lake in Grapeland.  We remember when Joe and Jack cooked BBQ for all of us.  Great memories, Joe was always happy.  We loved him and family. May God alway bless his family.

I am sorry we didn’t spend more time together. I am sorry that we lost 12 years together that we can’t back. I am regretting so much right now. It hurts. I didn’t realize all the things you were teaching me was to set me up to habe the best life possible. You were a man of many skills. A many of many words. I will cherish the memories we did have and your life lessons I am using today. I’m grateful you adopted me to have your last name. You will always be my dad. I love you.

Many blessings to Madison, and the rest of the family. Joe was a joy to work with at Shell. Even when he struggled through that last bout of cancer, he still had a smile on his face and had a kind heart to all. It's a comfort to know he's resting in heaven now, with no more struggles. My daddy. What can I say about Joe Platt. He wasn’t just my dad he was my mentor. My role model. My protector. My bestfriend. A fighter. He beat cancer twice. Beat a brain injury. There was no stronger man than my daddy. There wasn’t a minute of the day where I didn’t tell him I loved him and vice versa. He always checked on me before he checked on himself. I will cherish every memory we had together these past 27 years. I have leave in my heart knowing you are no longer suffering and are in heaven with maw maw, paw paw and granny jo and everyone else up there who loves you and has welcomed you with open arms. Until we meet again I will continue to talk to you everyday because I know you are right next to me and in my heart. I love you so much daddy.

Oh Joe, what a great cousin you've been   You've made us laugh so hard until we almost wet ourselves.  Your mannerisms and wit just make being around you such a pleasure and fun.  Your smile would make a rainy day a pleasure and that laugh-what can I say about that-it'd make the rest of the room laugh just at your laugh.  I love you Joe and I know you're eating chocolate chip cookies that Granny made and drinking all the chocolate milk you can find.  Until me meet again.  Your address isn't Texas anymore, it's HEAVEN.

We called him Big Joe.  He was a big man with a big heart.  He was my running buddy back when we were both single and then my best man at my wedding.  After we were both married we went our separate ways but stayed in touch throughout the years.  We were brought back together when my wife Brandi was at MD Anderson getting treatment for stage 4 breast cancer and Joe was going into remission.  They ran into each other in the cafeteria sitting at tables close to each other.  Brandi recognized a voice but didn’t recognize Joe.  She asked him if his name was Joe and he said “yes Ma'am, who are you?  Chemo changes everything and neither one recognized each other after years of being great friends.  I have so many hilarious stories of adventures Joe and and I had and would love to share them.  This man was a good man.  I will love him and miss him forever.  He was a great father and Madison has been an angel for him.  Rest in peace my friend.  Tell Brandi I miss her and live her.  I know you are both dancing with angels in heaven.

My deepest condolences for the family of Big Joe. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone- always positive and smiling. He will be greatly missed! I find gratefulness in knowing he is no longer in pain, he is healthy and whole again. Godspeed, Joe. Until we meet again…. 😢
