

Joy was a longtime resident of Northshore, member of Mont Belvieu United Pentecostal Church and a retired bookkeeper from Platzer Ship Yard after 20 years of service. She also enjoyed her memberships in the Buick Convertible Car Club and Ford Convertible Car Club.
Mrs. Laird was preceded in death by her parents; son, Paul David Baxter; daughter, Brenda Saunders; brothers, C. W. ""Dub"" Morris, Roger Morris, Herbert Morris and Joe Dowell Morris and sisters, Zenah Simmons, Sybil Childres and Geraldine Fretwell.
Survivors include her husband, Oscar B. Laird; children, Linda Rice and her husband James of Mont Belvieu, Virginia Downing of Dayton, Alice Bounds and her husband Robert of Highlands and Geneva Trousdale of Old River; brother, Larry W. Morris and his wife Rosemarry of Paris, Texas; sister-in-law, Ruth Morris and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Navarre Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the funeral home with Pastor John Bernardini and Brother John Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Lee Rice, Gregory James Rice, David Downing, Rev. Kelly Caywood, Michael Trousdale and Stephen Saunders. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Laird, Robert Laird and Troy Ener.
