It is with THE heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Judy Gayle Devore, beloved Mother, Meme, sister, and friend. Judy was born July 18th, 1944, in Pasadena, Texas to parents Elizabeth Jewel and Charles Harold Dawson.
Judy was a 1963 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Texas where she made lifelong friends. Judy was married in 1964 to Sidney Lloyd Aaronson and had two beautiful daughters, Deborah Gayle Aaronson and Amy Lynn Aaronson. They moved to Maryland where she resided for 24 years. She was a dedicated and loving mother who always put her family first.
In addition to being a devoted mother, she held many positions throughout her lifetime. Podiatric Medical Assistant to Dr. Freid, Camp Administrator for the American Football Conference, Accounts Payable Clerk for the Institute of Genomic Research and Houston Methodist System, and Caretaker to the elderly, just to name a few. Aside from these, perhaps her most important job was spreading the word of God. She always had a bible verse to share, an ear to listen and a hymn to sing.
After her second marriage to Tom Devore, she moved back home to Baytown to take care of her mother in her final years. She loved to talk on the phone for hours catching up and she never met a stranger. She enjoyed shopping, playing bingo, watching old westerns, going to church at Victory Temple and always wanted something sweet to eat. She was a kind, gentle, forgiving, comforting soul and always knew just what to say to make you feel better.
Judy fought bravely against various setbacks with her health over the last 5 months, but sadly passed away on May 17th, 2023. Her positive attitude and unwavering spirit throughout her illness were an inspiration to all who knew her. Her legacy will live on through the love and memories shared by her family and friends.
Judy is survived by her sister, Lynda Ann Holzaepfel, two daughters, Deborah Gayle Aaronson and Amy Aaronson DiGiovanni, granddaughters, Dana Gayle Jenkins, Gina Marie DiGiovanni and Emily Christine DiGiovanni, and great-grandson Tristan Cole Riggs.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Harold Dawson and Elizabeth Jewel Dawson and her brother Gary Harold Dawson.
