Julius Joseph Burianek

Dr. “B” attended Robert E Lee High School in 1948 and went on to graduate from Texas A&M University with his Bachelor’s degree of Science on May 27, 1952 and the University of Texas Medical School at Galveston with an M.D. on June 3, 1955. He interned at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Worth and earned a diploma on June 30, 1956 before entering the United States Air Force where he served as Captain in Chateau Roux, France at the 7373 USAF Hospital and Honorably Discharged on June 27, 1972. Dr. “B” obtained a Pediatric residency from 1959-1961at Baylor in Houston and served as chief resident at Texas Children’s Hospital. He began a pediatric practice at Gulf Coast Hospital in Baytown, Texas in 1962 and practiced for the next 38 years as one of the most respected and loved Pediatricians in town. In 1969, Dr. “B” married Sylvia Stegemueller and had two beautiful daughters, Jennifer and Alicia.

Dr. “B” was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church as well as many professional organizations. He was a member of the Fellow of American Academy of Pediatrics in 1988, Texas Pediatric Society, Texas Medical Associate Delegate for 25 years, President of the East Harris Co. Branch Medical Society in 1975 and President of The Gulf Coast Hospital Medical Staff in 1982. Dr. “B” was a charter member and past president of the East Harris County Serra Club.

Dr. “B” is preceded in death by his mother, Julia Burianek, father, John Burianek, and sister, Irene Krull. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Burianek, daughter’s Jennifer Burianek and Alicia Copenhaver and son-in-law Bill Copenhaver, his brother, John R. Burianek, two grandchildren, Logan and Kassandra Copenhaver and many nieces and nephews.

Dr. “B” was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was loved by many and will be sorely missed.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3 at Earthman Funeral home on Garth Road from 5 – 7 pm. A Rosary will follow. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Friday, September 4 at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Carolina Street in Baytown, TX. Burial will be at White Cemetery in Highlands, TX. Pall Bearers are Dr. Frank Krull, Mark Malchar, Joseph Malchar, Bill Stegemueller, Dennis Mahlman, and Doug Schoppe. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Church Capital Campaign.
