

Laura Agnes Armstrong McFarland was born September 12, 1922, in Springfield, Missouri and peacefully entered her heavenly home on January 26, 2025. She was the second child to parents Vesper Ion Armstrong and Maggie May Elmore Armstrong. She moved to Houston at the age of six. Laura has been a resident of Baytown for 81 years. She was a long-time member of Alliance Bible Church, Baytown. She was a graduate of Milby High School, Houston, and Lee College, Baytown. She was a homemaker for 34 years before working at Lee College as Manager of the Bookstore. She was an avid reader who enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe. She faithfully served her family, friends and neighbors with her gifts of Christian hospitality and excellent cooking, especially her famous chocolate chip cookies. She was an exceptional seamstress who fashioned all the clothing for herself and her two daughters as well as the wedding dresses for a daughter and granddaughter.
Laura is preceded in death by her husband William Alexander McFarland. She is survived by children: Carolyn Gay Brock and husband David of Baytown; Brenda May Horn and husband Robert of Beeville; David William McFarland and wife Diane of Carrollton, Georgia; Timothy Ray McFarland and wife Ann of Port Lavaca; siblings: Jesse Armstrong and wife Betty and Dorothy Madison; twelve grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Rd, Baytown, TX 77521
