

Leatha Mae Whitaker, age 93, long time resident of Baytown passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023 in Spring Texas. She was born in Donie, Texas on April 7, 1930 to Dessie Mae Scott and William Emmett Dossey.
Leatha worked for Lee College and Central Baptist Church. She was a proud and dedicated member of Central Baptist Church and WMU. She enjoyed attending church and time with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 74 years, George Whitaker, Jr.; daughter, Ginger Mills; son, George Ed Whitaker, III and wife Cathy. Grandchildren: Edwin Whitaker, IV and wife Jessica, Justin Stockwell and wife Jennifer, Kelli Locke and husband Jeremy, Kyle Whitaker and wife Rebecca, Craig Whitaker and wife Mikayla. Great granddaughters: Taylor Hipolito, Olivia Whitaker, Camille Whitaker, Collins Locke, Elizabeth Whitaker, Annie Mae Whitaker. Great grandsons: George Edwin Whitaker, V, Jaxson Stockwell, Jacob Whitaker, and Barrett Whitaker; step great grandsons, Jacob Burkhalter and Zachary Burkhalter. Sisters: Reita Reber, Margie Fuller, Jane Cox and husband Nelson; brother: Truman Dossey and wife Martha.
Leatha is preceded in death by her parents; her great grandson, Samuel Gene Whitaker; son in laws, Zelrich Lynn Stockwell and Thomas Arnold Mills Jr.; sister, Altha Dossey Williamson, brothers, William Earl Dossey and wife Carolyn, Dean Ray Dossey and Wife Della; brothers in laws, Cleve Reber and Dewey Fuller.
A visitation for Leatha will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown, Texas 77521, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Baytown, Texas.
Due to the extreme heat advisory, the committal service will be private.
