LeRoy Louis Veselka, 90, of Baytown went to his eternal farm in heaven on April 16, 2008. He was born on October 20, 1917 in Fayetteville, TX to Johnnie and Cora Veselka. LeRoy joined the Army Air Corps and was a flight engineer on the B-24 Liberator during WWII. After the war, he met and married Margie Slanina in 1946. He retired from Exxon in Baytown as a mechanical supervisor. During his years in Baytown, he coached little league, pony league and was a big Robert E. Lee Ganders and Astros fan. He loved going to the farm and casinos and spent a lot of his time at the KC Hall. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church since 1936. He was a member of the American Legion in Crosby, KJT #103, Knights of Columbus #2788 and 3rd Agers and was a Eucharistic Minister for St. Joseph Catholic Church.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother and grandson. He is survived by his daughter, Helen Bernardin and husband Bob of Baytown; son, Michael Veselka and wife Cyndy of Boerne; grandchildren, Leanne Harmon and husband Chad of Mont Belvieu, Robbie Bernardin and Ashley Veselka, both of San Marcos and Shelbey and Bradley Veselka, both of Boerne; great grandchildren, Alexander McMorrow and Kaleb and Makenzi Harmon, all of Mont Belvieu; and sisters and brother, Earline Hoffman, Celestine Darilek and husband Rudy, Cora Taylor and John Veselka and wife Dusty, all of Houston, Matilda Moore of Baytown and Delphine Novak and husband Henry of Austin.
LeRoy will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather as well as a very loving and compassionate person. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Serving as pallbearers will be his nephews and Bobby Waldrop and Paul Peloquin.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. His Funeral Mass will be Monday, April 21, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Dwight Canizares officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands.
