Lou Ella Lowery

Lou Ella “Sister” Lowery, 85, of Highlands, TX, passed away on August 31, 2014. She was born on July 2, 1929 in Belzoni, MS, raised in LA, and moved to TX in June of 1960 where she was a resident of Brownwood and Highlands for 45years. She was a mother of 9 children and worked at San Jacinto Hospital and Goose Creek ISD. She was a member of the Highlands Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mable and Johnny Powell; husband, Floyd “Bill” Lowery; and son, Donnie Lowery.

She is survived by her sons and daughters, Marilyn Olen, Billy Lowery, Caroline and Ralph Dunn, Edward “Stinker” and Betty Jo Lowery, Frankie Lowery, Annette and Louis “Mutt” Fingleman, Thom Lowery, and Joey and Kim Lowery; daughter-in-law, Linda McPherson; 30 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren; dog, Polly; sister, Grace Nations; and brothers, John Powell, Wayne Powell, and Jackie Powell.

Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Lowery, Edward Lowery, Frankie Lowery, Joey Lowery, Randy Morris, and Sandy Morris.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Earthman Funeral Home from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 10:00am at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery, with Dr. George Lowery officiating.
