Loyce AvaNell Slaughter

Loyce AvaNell, born June 1, 1927, peacefully went to be with Our Lord on Wednesday, January 31, 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Stephenson, brother, Charles Edward Stephenson, sister, Mary LaVergne Stephenson and son, Clay Slaughter.

Loyce is survived by her brother, Lannie Stephenson, Jr. and wife Beondie; her loving husband of 60 years, G.C. Slaughter; daughter, Trary Nell Slaughter; granddaughter, Misty Ann Choate; grandson, Clayton McDaniel Choate; special friends, Mac Choate, Betty Monasco, Roger Smith, numerous nieces and nephews, and her church family of the Pentecostal faith.

A visitation will be held Friday, February 2, 2007, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at First Apostolic Church of Highlands, 1211 South Main Street, Highlands, Texas with Rev. Tommy Jackson officiating along with Sister Willohite, Sister L.S. Marcus and Rev. Kenneth Grant. Following the church service, graveside services will be held at Montague Cemetery, FM 1725, Cleveland, Texas at 1:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Misty Choate, Clayton Choate, Mac Choate, Greg Lindley, David Massingill, and Ray Tallent. Condolences may be sent to the family at P. O. Box 2013, Baytown, TX 77522.

The family would like to thank the caring staff at St. James House, Highland House, Faith Community Hospice and San Jacinto Methodist Hospital and Rehab. Her family would like the staff to know that the love and care shown to her in the last 3 and ½ years is sincerely appreciated.
