Mary Nell Alsabrook Bivona

Mary Nell Alsabrook Bivona, 80, died September 2, 2011 from a stroke. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Alfred Edward Bivona, parents Elton B and Georgia Mary Alsabrook, brother Larry Alsabrook, and sister Dorothy Jean Reynolds. She is survived by daughters Carolyn Bivona, Sharolyn and husband Raymond Williams, Patricia Bivona Howard; grandchildren Chelsea Williams, Andrew Williams, Benjamin Howard, and Brittany Howard; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

Mary Nell was born in Alabama and lived there, and Atlanta, Georgia, until moving to Galveston during her high school years where she met the love of her life on a blind date. They were married for 44 wonderful years. Although living in Texas since the age of 18, she never lost her sweet, genteel, and charming southern personality. Mary Nell lived in Galveston until 1968 when the family sold Bivona Laundry and Dry Cleaners and she and her husband moved to Baytown to open North Main Rental Center. After her husband's death, she moved to League City where she had resided since 1999.

Mary Nell was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Red Hat Society, YMCA Mermaids, former member Beta Sigma Phi – Galveston Chapter, and served over the past 50 years as a board member and volunteer for many health care and community organizations. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Baytown.

The family will receive visitors at Navarre Funeral Home, in Baytown, on Tuesday, September 6th, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1200 E Lobit St, Baytown, TX 77520 on Wednesday, September 7th at 1:00 p.m., Pastor Raymond Van Buskirk officiating. Interment will follow at Earthman Memory Gardens in Baytown.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association/ American Stroke Association, 10900-B Stonelake Blvd., Suite 320, Austin, TX 78759.
