Miss Nelson was my high school graphic design teacher, but she was so much more than that. She was my mentor, my friend, and like family to me. She had a generous heart and a beautiful spirit, always sharing her talent and helping others without hesitation.

She taught me far more than design; she taught me about life, resilience, and believing in myself. We were very close during my time in high school, and I’ll never forget the day she shared her diagnosis with me. I remember crying and hoping it wasn’t real. Watching her fight so bravely over the years was heartbreaking, but she faced every challenge with strength, faith, and courage.

Miss Nelson showed me kindness I will never forget. She even welcomed me into her family Thanksgiving when I needed it most. That is the kind of person she was: giving, thoughtful, and full of love.

I am deeply grateful to Chris, her husband, Andrea Lynn, her best friend, and to everyone who stood by her side when I could not. I wish the outcome had been different, but I will always carry her lessons and love with me.

I miss you dearly, Miss Nelson. You will forever be in my heart.

Ms. Nelson was such an amazing person and teacher. During my time with her at CTHS, I learned so much and learned to fall in love with graphic design. So much so that I decided to pursue graphic design like her. During the last meet the teachers night during senior year, she told my mother that I was going to go far, and how proud she was of me. That memory will forever be engraved in my head. It was actually Ms. Nelson who gave me the final push to pursue design further. She had this amazing ability to make you believe in yourself just by her believing in you. She loved all her students with all she had and we loved her back. Thank you Ms. Nelson for everything you helped me with, and thank you for helping me believe in myself. I’ll miss you and I’ll always have you in my heart. To Ms. Nelson, who we all loved and cherished. You were the kindest person I’ve ever met. You held so much compassion and empathy to those around you. The love you had for all of was us was immeasurable. When I was graduating and moving away to another city, you helped me out on getting an apartment, teaching me all the wacky legalities and whatnot. That was just one instance where you showed your love. You were more than just a teacher to me, you were my friend. You hold a very special place in my heart. I love you so much, rest now. Thank you for everything.

Thank you Mrs.Nelson for teaching me to love my creativity and see the best things in life. You are one of my favorite teachers and you impacted my life at a young age! I will miss you, thank you!

Ms. Nelson made my time at CTHS and my life in general so much brighter everyday when I was in her graphic design class. I appreciate everything she taught me during those 4 years, not just graphic design but life lessons to carry with me forever.

I am heartbroken to hear of her passing, and wish her family, friends and students, present and past, healing as they mourn the loss of a beautiful soul.

While Mary and I were never friends, I always admired her beauty from afar while we went to school together. My sincerest condolences.

I was fortunate enough to have known Mrs. Nelson not only as a former student, but as a friend. She was more than just a teacher, she was an inspiration, a mentor, and a huge comfort to not only myself but to anyone that was lucky enough to know her. She was a beautiful person with a very big heart who always made every person that walked through her door feel both comfortable and welcomed. She would always let me know that she believed in me and my capabilities even after graduating from her class, and I hope that i’ve been able to make her proud. Even after all these years, I often find myself wishing that i was back in her class working on a new project, her class was always the highlight of my day, i’m sure many others can say the same. We’ve shared many talks, laughs, inside jokes, and many lunches together, those memories with her I will cherish forever. The guidance and influence she has had on my life is not lost on me, and she will always be remembered. Her light will always shine through each and every heart that she has touched. Through this devastating loss, my deepest condolences are with her friends, family, and her two beautiful children Ethan and Hannah whom she loved dearly. May she rest in peace.

I was one of Ms. Nelson’s former students from class 2017,  she was more than just a teacher , she was a mentor, an inspiration. She always had a smile on her face, always came in ready to teach us and make us feel like a family

Such a beautiful person. I loved her class every day. For every day she was there she was always funny and talkative even while battling herself. I hope her family may find peace in knowing she was loved. Rest in peace Mrs. Nelson.

Mrs. Nelson was a truly inspiring person and mentor. Her classroom was a place of comfort and creativity for me and I’m incredibly grateful for her presence in my life. As I would not be where I am now without her. May she rest peacefully.

I was deeply disturbed to learn of Mary's passing. I had no idea. Her remarkable kindness, generosity, and love for all touched the hearts of everyone she met. As her family faces this unbearable sorrow, I pray they're upheld by the love, prayers, and cherished memories of Mary's life. May her reunion with her father bring peace to their hearts. My heartfelt condolences to her friends and family.

Ms. Nelson was one of the best teachers I’ve ever had, and without her influence on me I would not be where I am today. She helped to foster creativity, individuality, and community within her classroom, and went out of her way to ensure each of her students was cared for and appreciated. When I needed my highschool senior photos retaken and I had no ride, she made room for me in her car and drove me herself. She was kind, creative, and all that I have done and will do will be thanks to her.

Ms. Nelson, a caring, generous, and creative figure I am grateful to have had in my life. Her class helped me discover my love for design and even encouraged me to pursue art school. Ms. Nelson cared for every student and went out of her way to make the class feel seen, heard, and comfortable. She made the classroom a home, provided resources for students who did not have access to certain necessities, and allowed students to express themselves. I will never forget the impact she had on others and myself. With every design project I take on, I always tie it back to an experience from her class. She holds a special place in many hearts. May she rest in peace.

To my teacher, Mrs.Nelson, I am grateful for the important role you played in my life. Your guidance has helped me understand who I am today. I know I was pretty annoying student to you, but to me, you are the best mentor I could have ask for. Your patience, caring nature, and kindness has always helped me throughout my high school year. I do hope to see you again when the time comes. May you rest in peace my dearest mentor.

Ms. Nelson was like a second mother to us. Was also gentle, heartwarming and welcoming. I will not stop talking about and will aways share the moments that will keep her in memory. We all have that one teacher who changed our lives, and Ms. Nelson was mines. Thank you for welcoming me into your class and thank you for everything.
