

Mitzi Earline Woods, 83, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on September 15, 2016, surrounded by family at her home in Baytown, Texas. She was born on June 19, 1933, in Conroe, Texas, to Earl Davis Anderson and Lassie Lorena DeShazo Anderson.
Earline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of over 50 years, J.M. ""Sonny"" Woods, her daughter, Carole West, and her son-in-law, Porter West.
Earline's greatest legacy is her family. She was a loving mother to her son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Beth Woods of Austin; daughter and son-in-law, Cyndi and George Gidley of Baytown; son and daughter-in-law Don and Staci Woods of Beach City; and son and daughter-in-law Gary and Beth Woods of Baytown. She was a devoted grandmother to Jason West and wife Belinda; Georgeann Ward and husband David; Jana West; Charlotte Johnson and husband Ross; Ben Woods and wife Amy; John West and wife Christina; Stephanie Woods; Amanda Woods; Ryan Woods; Davis Woods; and Leah Woods. She was a blessing to seven great-grandchildren: Matthew and Brian Ward, Michael and Morgan Conejo, Philip West, and Penelope and Clark Johnson. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Mel and Jess McNeely; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Judy Anderson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
She was a 1951 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and later worked there for over 20 years in the registrar's office. As a strong Christian, she was as an example to all who knew her. A faithful member of Second Baptist Church for more than 60 years, she spent hours of selfless service to the choir, children's program, and adult ministry. She loved singing, sewing, and caring for others; she created love out of everyday things. She was also a phenomenal cook, and nothing pleased her more than to serve her pies, cakes, and delicious home-cooking at the family table surrounded by loved ones. Strong, hard-working, and creative, she used her gifts to help others in any way possible.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 16, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Second Baytown, 6227 North Main Street, Baytown, Texas 77521. The funeral will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at 10:00 AM at Navarre Funeral Home with Reverend Tommy Clements officiating. There will be a private family burial on Monday, September 19.
Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons, Jason West, John West, David Ward, Ben Woods, Ross Johnson, Ryan Woods, Davis Woods, and great-grandsons, Matthew and Brian Ward.
