

Oliver Oswald “Buddie” Welch, 85, of Baytown, Texas passed away peacefully on March 5, 2005. His boyhood years were spent in Tarkington Prairie, near Cleveland, Texas. He served as a loyal and faithful soldier in five campaigns of WWII. As a dependable employee of 35 years, he retired from Exxon. Oliver served as a deacon in his church at Central Assembly in Baytown and regularly attended services at Victory Temple Church, also of Baytown. He was known for planting trees wherever he lived that bear a memorial to his name.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Norman Welsh.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carrie Welch; son, Rev. Ronnie Welch and wife Karen; daughter, Sherry Hudman and husband Troy; grandchildren, Darrian Hudman, Greg and Aimee Welch, Dewayne and Kathryn Hudman, Melanie Pratt, Stephanie and Jeremy Littlefield, Douglas and Angela Hudman; great grandchildren, Michael Adkison, Micah Hudman, Kevin Welch, Johnathan Littlefield, Brooke Hudman, Brianna Littlefield, Samantha Welch, Nicholas Welch, Carrie Hudman, Zachary Littlefield, Tori Hudman, and Promise Hudman.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home on Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Charles Kyle and Rev. Olan Troutman. The committal service will be at 12:30 p.m. at Ryan Cemetery in Tarkington Prairie.
Serving as pallbearers will be Darrian Hudman, Greg Welch, Dewayne Hudman, Douglas Hudman, Jeremy Littlefield, Mike Hudman, Jimmy Charles, and Virgil Gourlay. Honorary pallbearer will be Clarence Broussard.
