

Otis Victor “Bubba” Navarre, 81, of Baytown, TX went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, August 30, 2007. He was born August 27, 1926 in Crowley, LA. His family moved to Baytown in the early 1930’s. Bubba proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy in the Pacific front during WWII. He retired from GTE in 1981 after 30 years of service and also served many years as a volunteer fireman and emergency corps member and was a longtime member of First Church of the Nazarene. He was an avid bowler since the age of 16. He helped organize the Baytown Men’s Bowling Association and was secretary/treasurer for a number of years.
Bubba never met a stranger. Many people were touched by his encouraging spirit and loving nature. He was lovingly known as the “candy man”, offering peppermints and tootsie rolls to everyone he met. Bubba will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vick and Mildred Faulk Navarre and twin sister, Virginia Joy Matlock. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 61 years, Pauline Mock Navarre; daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Joe Prather and Wanda and Jerry Anderson; grandchildren, Tracey and Matt Riffle, Danny Tomlinson, Jeff and Becca Anderson, and Jennifer and Danny Phillips; great grandchildren, Courtney Riffle, Sydney and Quincy Phillips, Spain Tomlinson, and Jaylee Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Anderson, Danny Tomlinson, Matt Riffle, Danny Phillips, Stanley Matlock, and Keith Matlock. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Keenagers Bowling League.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home with Rev. Brance Moyer officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
His family would like to thank the staff of Regency Hospice, Dr. Federico Dancel, Dr. Sarma Challa, and their staff for the care and kindness shown him. They would also like to thank his special niece, Michaelene Mock for her loving devotion and support.
