Paulette was born to her loving parents, November 30, 1945, in Highlands, Texas. She graduated third with top honors in the 1964 graduating class of Carver High School and received a Criminal Justice degree from Lee College in Baytown. Paulette united in marriage with Robert L. Tyler, Sr. and together they had years of adventure that at times took them around the world while raising five adoring children - Robert L. Tyler Jr., Reginald L. Tyler, Paula C. Tyler Frank, Kristina A. Tyler and John P. Tyler. She later remarried and had a beautiful love story with David K. Aiken, with whom she shared 21 years of wedded bliss.
She is survived by her sister, Nancy G. Smith (Virgil); son, Reginald L. Tyler (Darlene); daughters, Paula C. Tyler Frank and Kristina A. Tyler; grandchildren, Robert L. Tyler III (Krysinda), Sean E. Wilkins, Allahjah J. Brown, Gladys J. Frank, Jonah C. Tyler, Reginal J. Frank, Adrian P. Frank, Josh M. Torres, Rayfield Conley Jr. and great-grandson, Theodore R. Tyler. She also leaves to cherish her memory her dearest friends Claudia Neal, Marcy Arce and Sharon Harp, among so many others. Through David, she gained and is survived by bonus daughters and sons, Michelle Aiken Conley (Rayfield), Monique Henson (Dale), Giselle Foresman (Lee), Victoria Aiken and David Henault. There are a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who she cherished as they cherished her; including but not limited to Sydney Portilla–Diggs, Kizzie Edwards, Lula Smith-Manderscheid, Adrienne Smith, Jackie Bass, Monica Bolden, and Robin Wilson, and bonus children, June T. Tyler, Lionel Wilkins, Sonya Gray and Sharon Gray. Her beloved fur babies, Ambrose, Scrappy, Marley, Callie and Gracie aka Hellcat, are all sorely missing Paulette. She was preceded in death by her mother, Georgia A. Kimble; sons, Robert L. Tyler Jr. and John P. Tyler; husbands, Robert L. Tyler Sr. and David K. Aiken; sisters, Eloda F. Edwards and Doris I. Robinson; brother, John A. Adams; bonus son, Clarence Frank Sr. and bonus brothers, Richard Neal and Jim Owens.
Paulette had varied talents and gifts, working as an educator, seamstress, postal worker, probation officer, in retail and hospitality and as an administrator in the funeral home industry. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, quilting, gardening, travelling, reading, writing, watching her favorite TV shows, cooking and baking for her family and loved ones. She fostered many rescue animals and humans; some of them never parting with her. Paulette also fed strays, felines and humans alike, as often as she could. She loved hosting holidays and gatherings and retelling the stories of her own and her children’s many escapades. Her annual gumbo parties overflowed with guests from near and far. As a devoted parent of the JROTC Booster Club and member of the Houston Chapter of Parents of Murdered Children, she spent countless hours volunteering at the concession stands of sporting events and Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. She had a very close relationship with the Lord, was active in the Lutheran Church and studied the Word of the Bible often on her own and with her prayer partners, Pastor Doug Guthier and Lanette Lundblade.
Paulette touched so many lives and embraced and loved no matter race, creed or color. With her passing, we have lost a truly beautiful soul. She will be missed, but never forgotten.
