Roland Ray Williams

Roland Ray Williams, 76, of Baytown was born May 2, 1936 in Baytown and passed away Monday, December 31, 2012 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathleen Nelson Williams, Daughters Kay Morris and husband Tom, Suzanne Varkonda and husband Kerry, Lisa Boring and husband Don, and son Russ Williams. Roland is also survived by grandchildren, Patrick Morris, Laura Morris, Leeanne Edwards, Emma Moresea, Alex Varkonda, Rachael Boring, Megan Boring, and Daniel Williams. He is also survived by great grandchildren, Brianna Benfield, Damian Gil and Zoey Morris. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Oliver Williams and Hazel Thelma Williams, as well as his brother J. W. Williams.

Roland was a 1955 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and was a member of Eastside Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon. Roland's greatest love after his family was fishing – a love that was passed on to him by his brother, J.W. He was a National Casting champion and a well known fishing guide on Texas lakes as well as Galveston Bay. Even when he could no longer fish, he loved to drive out and see the water so he could decide if it would be a good fishing day or not.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home. Private graveside services for the family will be held Friday at Memory Gardens Cemetery with Kris Emerson officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Russ Williams, Don Boring, Kerry Varkonda, Tom Morris, Patrick Morris, Alex Varkonda, and Daniel Williams.
