Royce Hilton Smith

Royce Hilton Smith, 96, of Baytown, TX passed away on December 8, 2020. He was born in Mont Belvieu, TX on August 8, 1924 to Osemon Z. Smith and Eva H. Dugat Smith. He was raised in Barbers Hill and graduated from Barbers Hill Class of 1942.

Royce served his country honorably in the United States Navy for 3 years. He moved to Baytown in 1961. He worked for Exxon Refinery for 35 years retiring on February 1, 1982. Royce was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mont Belvieu for 37 years and St. John’s United Methodist Church for 59 years. He loved and enjoyed reading, deer hunting, fishing, and loved hunting for Indian Artifacts.

He loved his family and friends. A man of kind and gentle ways. Always ready to hear and tell a good story and have a great laugh.

Royce was preceded in death by his parents, Osemon Z. Smith and Eva H. Dugat Smith; son, James Allen Smith; and brother, Glen Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 74 ½ years, Josephine (Jo) Smith; daughter, Gloria Enloe and husband Dennis; three step-granddaughters, Robin Waller and husband Russell, Rosalyn Smith and husband Ricky, Brandy Wiggins and husband Joe; nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and one on the way in January of 2021.

Visitation will be held from 10 am – 11 am, Monday, December 14, 2020, at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, TX 77521, with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Earthman Memory Gardens Cemetery in Baytown, TX. Serving as pallbearers: Dennis Enloe, Mike O’Sullivan, Allen Roberts, Johnny Boy Barrow, Terry Englert, and Zeke Novasad.
