Sam was born in Karnes City, Texas on December 10, 1919. He attended Karnes City High School and the brand new Lee Junior College in Baytown, Texas where he met his future wife of 68 years, Mary Louise McGee. From there he moved to Austin where he attended The University of Texas earning a BA in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, he returned to Baytown where they were married December 30, 1941. A faithful member of Pruett and Lobit Church of Christ in Baytown, Sam taught bible classes and served as a deacon. He was always ready for service with kind and reassuring words for everyone and unswerving devotion to his family and friends. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him, but he is in a better place today, resting in the arms of his Lord, reunited with Mary Louise, enjoying the rewards that they so greatly anticipated and so richly deserved.
