Sharon Sowders

She was married to Earl Sowders for 46 years. Sharon was a stay-at-home mother to her children, whom she loved deeply, and later began a career in office administration, where she worked for banks and doctor’s offices. Sharon enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and had a passion for shopping and traveling. She was always accompanied by her dog Penny, whom she loved so much and brought her so much joy.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, JC and Marie Smith; as well as her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Ellen Sowders. She is survived by her husband Earl; daughter, Mindy Sitton and husband Shawn; daughter, Holly Guidry and husband Brian; grandchildren, Ty, Kyle, Kara, and Seth Sitton, Brayden Guidry and Savannah Guidry; sister, Jan Dykes and husband Lynn; sister-in-law, Carol Sullivan and husband Michael; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Sharon loved to travel, and while vacationing in the Texas Hill Country, she made some very special friends, Bob and Naomi Ruud, of Minnesota. Sharon and Naomi became instant friends, and together they enjoyed eating out and visiting by the campfire, where they would exchange recipes for their favorite dishes.

Sharon will be deeply missed by all those she loved and cared for, but especially by her husband, children, grandchildren, and of course, her beloved Penny.

The family will receive friends for Visitation on Friday, May 6, 2022, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, TX 77521. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of Navarre Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Baytown, TX. Serving as Pall Bearers will be Dennis Sowders, Jack Sowders, Jr., Shawn Sitton, Brian Guidry, Robert Craig, and John Meadows.
