Veta Colleen Brantley-Farek

Colleen married Carlos Brantley in 1945 and they had three children. The family lived in West Texas until 1966 when they moved to LaPorte. A few years later they moved to Baytown. After her husband’s crippling accident, Colleen began her 20-year career in Real Estate in the early 1970s. Anyone knowing Colleen is aware of her love for card games and her great desire to always win! Many wonderful times were spent with her family, including her sister Lanelle around the table playing cards or dominoes.

Several years after Carlos passed away, Colleen married Eugene Farek and started a new chapter in her life. They enjoyed dancing along with their group of friends, many cruises together and rallies with their Corvette club. Unfortunately, cancer took her life after only 3 years of marriage.

Colleen was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Brantley and a son, Derrill Brantley. She is survived by her husband Eugene F. Farek, son & daughter-in-law Rodney & Becky Brantley, daughter & son-in-law Sharon Brantley & Steve McCorquodale, sister Lanelle Bancroft, stepchildren Jimmie & Donna Brantley, Lonnie C. Brantley, Mike & Janet Hoevelman, Gary Farek, Karen & Randy Fitzgerald, Ronald & Kellie Farek, David & Dawn Farek, & James & Tiffany Farek. She has made wonderful memories for and is deeply loved by her grandchildren and their families Carla Brantley, Chad & Jennie Brantley, Chris & Ashlee Brantley, Curt Brantley, Michelle McGaughy, Gina Chambers, Justin & Courtnie Chambers and Jake McCorquodale. Her 10 great grandchildren will also miss her deeply. She is further survived by numerous stepgrandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends, including special friends Faye & Clarence Broussard who spent many hours supporting her & her family during the lengthy hospital stay.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 19, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at Bayshore Baptist Church located at 11315 Spencer Highway, LaPorte, Texas with Dr. Mark Redd and Brother Bass Redd officiating. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Woodson Cemetery, Woodson, Texas. Serving as Pallbearers will be Chad, Chris & Curt Brantley, Justin Chambers, Jake McCorquodale & Lonnie “L. J.” Brantley. Honorary Pallbearers are great grandsons Marques McGaughy & Jase Chambers.

Her family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support during her illness.
