Wayne Lee Hooper

Wayne Lee Hooper, 71, of Baytown passed away on Monday, February 3, 2014 in a Houston healthcare facility. Wayne was born on March 31, 1942 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas to the late Claborn M. Hooper, Sr. and Beadie Neal Hooper. The Hooper family moved to Baytown when Wayne was just three years old, he would live the rest of his life there. Wayne graduated in 1960 from Robert E. Lee High School. He then went on to graduate from Lee College and attended The University of Houston. Wayne worked for Houston Lighting and Power (now CenterPoint) for 45 years as a computer system analyst. During his career he continued to seek out education in his field, thus leading to many certifications. When he was not working, Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling, especially taking cruises. Wayne also was very handy; he had a special talent for restoring furniture and even a historic home in Galveston.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Ruby Herron, infant brother, Clifford Hooper, A.C. ""Bubba"" Hooper, Margie Hooper Peloquin, Rosemary Hooper; sister-in-law, Ruth Hooper and nephew, Joe Hooper.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Brenda Nunn Hooper; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Greg Otterson; son, Devin Hooper; grandchildren, Mason and Amanda Aymes; sister, Edna Hooper Mulkey; brother C.M. Hooper, Jr. and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, former colleagues and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Pastor Rebecca Smith will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers will be Greg Otterson, Mason Aymes, Tommy Mulkey, Dennis Mulkey, Paul Peloquin and Chris Hooper.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Houston Hospice for their excellent care in Wayne's final days.
