

Mr. Parrish was born April 19, 1913, in Shelby County to Mr. and Mrs. R. Oliver Parrish. He attended Tenaha schools and Sam Houston State University and retired from Exxon after 36 years. Mr. Parrish was a resident of Baytown for 65 years and served as an elder of the Church of Christ for more than 40. He was a member of the Goose Creek Church of Christ when he died.
Those who knew Mr. Parrish remember him for his green thumb, his gentle nature, his quiet, gentlemanly manner and especially for his love of the church and his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 12 brothers and sisters and a great-granddaughter, Sydney Leigh Parsons.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ann Cozart Parrish; one son, Bill Parrish of Baytown; one daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Jimmy Parsons of Baytown; two grandsons, Jim Duncan Parsons of Houston and Antony Cozart Parsons and his wife Megan of Cedar Park; one great-granddaughter, Abigail Leigh Parsons of Cedar Park; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Drive in Baytown.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at Navarre Funeral Home. Randy G. King, minister of the Goose Creek Church of Christ, will officiate. The men of the Goose Creek church will serve as honorary pallbearers. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Hopewell Cemetery in Normangee.
