Annie was married to John Henry “Dick” Wilkerson for 50 years before he predeceased her in 1996. She lost her only son Larry in April, 1967, when he died at the age of 19, receiving the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat in Vietnam as a member of C BTRY, 1stBN, 44th Artillery, U.S. Army.
Annie was a great bowler in her days. She loved to bowl with her friends Janet Marlow of Vidor and others. She also had a green thumb and could grow anything she planted; hydrangeas were her favorite flower.
Annie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Douglas Sikes of Beaumont, one niece Loretta Pritchett of Dayton, Nevada, and Joe Verde, her nephew living in Laguna Niguel, California.
Funeral services for Annie Lucille Wilkerson will be today, Friday, January 7, at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont, with visiting hours at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. preceding the funeral services.
