Clarence was a Vietnam War Veteran in the Army where he received the Bronze Star Medal. He later worked at Optimus Steel and retired from there after 42 years on December 31st, 2018. Clarence was a member of the United Steel Worker Local 8586 in Beaumont, Texas. Clarence enjoyed being outdoors including boating on the Neches River where he would spend most of his weekends and travelling to see different mountains and beaches. He was also an avid guitar player and was a Dallas Cowboys Fan.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Robin Finch; daughters, Janel Finch Barrow and husband Ike of Savannah, GA; and Katy Finch of Beaumont, TX; stepdaughter, Michelle Gibson and husband Aaron; stepson William Kuritz and ex-wife Davina Wilson; brothers, John Selmon; and Thomas Selmon and wife Sandra; sisters Tsula Botting and husband Gene, Kathleen French Thacker and husband David; Suzanne French Argyle and husband Dave; and MaryEllen French; grandchildren, Jacob Sutton; Jayla Sutton; Kylan Vital; Kaden Vital; Ka'Mya Vital; Justin Gunn; Shelby Gunn; Natalie Barrow; Madison Barrow; step grandchildren, William Michael Kuritz; Raelyn Kuritz; great grandchildren, Jaiceon Sutton and Jadyn Sylvestor.
Clarence was preceded in death by father Clarence Payne Finch Sr. and mother Frances Dayton French; brother Michael Selman; sister Jali Finch Heitman and sister Betty Finch Ormond; stepmother Ruth Finch, and stepfather Alton French.
Clarence also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.
A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held on Friday, August 7, 2020 from 4:00PM – 6:00PM. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Clarence’s life will be held Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
