Gary Wayne Martin

Gary grew up in the South Park and Amelia areas of Beaumont and graduated from Forest Park High School. He was gifted in multiple sports and vocal music, earning UIL all-state awards. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Beaumont during his

childhood and adolescence. One of the youngest police officers in Texas at the time, he began his career in law enforcement with the Port Arthur Police Department. Gary completed his degree at Lamar University and later served with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. His passion for law enforcement extended to many years of teaching criminal justice at the community college level. Gary loved the beaches of the Gulf, fishing, and collecting vintage

electronics.

He was preceded in death by his parents, H. R. “Pat” and Lucille Martin.

He will be missed by his brothers, R. W. Bobby Martin (Jennifer) of Plano and Hubert Martin Jr. (Claudia) of Mineola, as well as his niece and nephews and their families—Tres Martin of Fort Worth,

and Jennifer Parkhurst, Brandon Martin, and Todd Martin, all of Dallas.

Graveside services at Forest Lawn Cemetery will be planned at a later date.
