Helen came to Beaumont with her parents when she was just a small girl, and she remembered that they rode to Beaumont from Mayflower in a wagon. She was a graduate of Beaumont High School. In 1950 she married Don Clawson and together they raised 3 boys. Helen was a devoted wife and mother and stayed home to raise her children. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, cleaning, and tending to all of her family's needs.
Helen was such a bubbly person; she could always be found laughing and giggling. Whenever someone would come to visit and announce their presence, they would be met with a cheerful "Yoo-Hoo!" from Helen. She enjoyed bowling and was part of a local league. Her children remember fondly time spent at the bowling alley. She loved dancing with her husband, Don; their favorites were the Jitterbug and the Bop.
Helen's love for family was extended through the years as she became a grandmother. She enjoyed her grandchildren immensely and spent as much time with them as she could. When they were old enough to join activities and play sports, she never missed a game.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mamie Chaney; her husband, Don Clawson; her son, Glen Clawson; her brother, Joseph Franklin Chaney; and by her sisters, Larue Chaney Greenwood, Justine Chaney Tinkle, Earnestine Chaney, and Clarabel Chaney Hamm.
Those left behind to remember Helen are sons, Kirby Clawson and Randall Clawson; her grandchildren, Joshua Clawson, Matthew Clawson, B.J. Thomas, Stephen Clawson, Chris Thomas, Cadie Cassell and Casie Needham; her great-grandchildren, Morgan Clawson, Gavin Needham, Emerson Clawson, Tylen Cassell, Seren Cassell, C.J. Cassell, Timothy Morrow, Jr., Brock McManus, Meghan Rhodes, Hannah Falke, Isaiah McBride, Nathan Nash, Maddison Miller, and Abbigail Thomas; her brothers-in-law, Jimmy Cornelius and Larry Tinkle. She also had many great-great grandchildren.
Helen will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
