Helen Maultsby Smith

Helen was born August 5, 1931, in Plano, Texas to Fred and Jessie Maultsby. Helen grew up in Plano and moved in 1960, to Beaumont, Texas. Helen loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly, enjoyed her exercise groups and traveling the world with her husband. Helen retired from JC Penney in 1991.

Helen is preceded in death by her loving husband Michael B. Smith and brother, Vance Maultsby. She is survived by her sister, Fredna Maultsby of Plano, Texas; daughter, Shelley Allen and husband Randy of Lumberton, Texas; son, Sean Smith and wife Leda of California; grand children, Kimberly Bledsoe and husband Davon of Lumberton; Bailey Markley and husband Dexter of California; Emily Smith of Oregon and great grandchildren, Ryan and Riley Bledsoe of Lumberton, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to express our special thanks to the staff at Silsbee Oaks for the loving care they provided to Helen.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at 2 p.m., at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society or charity of choice.
