John Earl Porter Sr., age 65, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born November 30, 1958 in Beaumont, Texas. He graduated from South Park High School in 1977. Then in 2000 he attended Lamar State College Port Arthur, graduating with a CIS degree. He worked for North Star Steel for 21 years, before moving to ExxonMobil for 15 years, where he retired. He loved golfing, fishing, watching the Cowboys, the Astros, and coaching his boys when they were young. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, and especially going to his grandkids activities. He was an exceptional man and is loved by many.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Hanane Porter; sons John Porter Jr. and wife Christy of Beaumont, Michael Porter and wife Kristin of Lumberton, Josh Porter and wife Deidra of Silsbee; daughter Amber Everett and husband Jason of Lumberton; Stepson Michael Lovett Jr. of Nederland; sister Linda Stewart and husband Bill of Lumberton; grandchildren Ethan Porter, Avery Porter, Maycie Talley-Porter, Connor Porter, Addison Everett, Jewel Everett, Victoria Everett; step grandchildren Tre Flores, Corey Flores, Caitlyn Alfaro, BethAshleigh Lovett, Kylie Lovett, Scarlet Lovett, Jackson Lovett; and 4 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mahlon Porter Sr. and Ava Nell Porter, and brother James Porter Jr.
A Rosary for John will be held Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 5:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas 77703, with a Gathering of Friends and Family to follow from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will occur Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Ave, Nederland, TX 77627.
