Laura Francis Childress, 93, of Beaumont, died Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Summer's Place Nursing and Rehab in Beaumont. A longtime resident of Beaumont, she was a retired elementary librarian at Pietzsch McArthur Elementary School in Beaumont, and member of Highland Avenue Baptist Church and Lamar Baptist Church. Laura enjoyed sewing, reading, and cooking.
A Celebration Graveside Service for Laura will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont under the direction of Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Laura Gamble Ball, and her loving husband Jesse Lamar Childress.
Laura is survived by her son Clay Childress and wife Denise of Leander, daughter Coleen Moore and her husband Bryan of Beaumont, sister Alma Jean Van Meter of Lumberton, her grandchildren James Ren Moore of Fannett, Brian Childress of Baton Rouge, Stuart Campbell of Austin, and Chelsea Wilson of Dallas, and numerous great grandchildren.
Laura will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
