Laura Deshong

Laura DeShong, born to Thomas Ridley and Mattie Harkins Ridley in Sour Lake, Texas on September 1, 1924, passed away at the age 98, on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Calder Woods Nursing Home in Beaumont.

Laura was married to Phillip Franklin DeShong and together they raised their children Philip and Dorcas. She loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed gardening and researching genealogy in her spare time.

Laura is survived by her children, Philip R. DeShong and his wife Kathy of Silver Spring, Maryland and Dorcas Brannock of Sterling, Virginia; her grandchildren, Kelly Prince and her husband Ben of Front Royal, Virginia, and Katie Brannock of New York City, New York; and by her great-grandchildren Connor and Silas Prince.

Laura was preceded in death by her husband Philip, her father Thomas and Mattie; and by her brothers, Robert "Bus" Ridley, Drexel Ridley, Hal Ridley, and Van Ridley.

A Celebration of Laura's Life will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 4090 Delaware St., Beaumont, TX 77706.

Laura will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4950 Pine Street, Beaumont, TX 77703; Serenity Mausoleum.
