Ema Lue Irvine, 94, passed away July 16, 2018. She was born in Fairmont, Oklahoma on December 2, 1923, the eldest of three children born to Iva and Russell Miller. Lue came from a pioneer family of Oklahoma. One set of grandparents rode in the Fourth Oklahoma Land Run on September 16, 1893. More than 50,000 people staked claim to land in the Cherokee Outlet that day. The other set of grandparents soon followed buying land in the same area.
During World War II, Lue worked for Civil Service for three years at an air base in Pampa, Texas then came to Beaumont in 1945. She retired from Allstate Insurance after 33 years of service in the claims department. Lue was a long-time member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School Class.
Lue was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Jane Fluman and her brother, Russell “Sonny” Miller all of Waukomis, Oklahoma and her husband of 48 years J.B. “Benny” Irvine.
Lue is survived by her daughter, Judy Hargrove and her husband, Tom of Beaumont, grandson, Col. Grant Hargrove of Tampa, Florida and great granddaughters, Juliana and Cadence Hargrove.
Lue’s family was the love of her life and she cherished the friendships of her Sunday school class members, former co-workers, and many more acquired throughout a long life well lived. Lue was a strong, independent lady but will be most remembered for her kind heart and gentle spirit.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Pelican Bay Assisted Living, Mr. James Moore, Ms. Annette Spencer and the Earth Angel Caregivers, all of whom provided such loving care for Lue.
