Patsy spent her entire life in Southeast Texas, where she worked in several businesses she owned with her husband Bobby. She also spent many years making bows and selling them locally at craft shows.
Pat, as her friends called her, loved to travel to Las Vegas, where she enjoyed playing Black Jack. She also loved to visit Tennessee, and was always up for a road trip. She was known for making delicious meals and loved to cook, and her family loved to eat it just as much! Thanksgiving will never be the same without her "famous" dressing that everyone always looked forward to.
Patsy is preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Ruby and Morris Granger, husband Bobby Bates, son Keith Derouen, and her granddaughter Kristen Webb.
She is survived by her sons Ricky Derouen and wife Lisa of Beaumont, Kenneth Derouen and wife Sheryl of Marble Falls, and Buck Bates and wife Cindy of Sour Lake; and her grandchildren, who were the light of her life, Cara Derouen, Stephen Derouen and wife Fransica, Bethany Taylor and husband Kyle, Keith Derouen, Kaitlyn Derouen, Lauren Strahan and husband David of Beaumont, Melissa and her husband Matt of Orange Beach, Alabama, and two bonus grandchildren, Kaleb and Kylie Boardman; and 10 great grandchildren, along with a slew of friends who became like family over the years.
The family would like to thank Beaumont Nursing and Rehabilitation for kindness shown to Patsy and her family.
Arrangements are pending at this time through Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.forestlawnmpfh.com for the Bates family.
