Savannah Mae Hines was born November 6, 1950 at her family's home in Beaumont, TX. She was the sixth of nine children from the union of Willie Andrews and Albertha Andrews (Jochin). Her siblings nicknamed her "Bam". Growing up in a large family, there was rarely a dull moment. Everyone had to pitch in and look out for each other to help the household maintain order. Aside from cooking and cleaning, Savannah became especially skilled at baking and sewing. Her mother, Albertha described Savannah as, "a good child'.

She was a proud Charlton Pollard Bulldog, graduating class of 1969. On September 6th of that same year, Savannah married her high school sweetheart, Lester Charles Hines Sr. Their marriage was a happy and loving union and lasted over 40 years. They made their family complete with the births of their children; Lester Charles Hines Jr. "Trey" and Dorothy Bell Hines "Dot". They affectionately called their family unit The Hines-4.

Savannah spent years working in the customer service industry until the mid-90's. However, the job that she took the most pride and joy in was being a wife and mother. She was a woman with a million dollar smile, a generous heart, and she always greeted her loved ones with arms opened wide to bring them in for a big hug. She loved dancing and singing. On Sunday mornings, Savannah's powerful voice filled the walls of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church as a member of the choir. She also did volunteer work cooking and baking for church fundraisers and even cut and sewed garments for the church Liturgical Praise Dance team at no charge.

Due to health issues in her latter years, she moved from Beaumont to Humble, TX with her daughter. Despite those health challenges, she never lost her sense of humor or her joyous laugh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Beaumont, under the direction of Forest Lawn Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lester C. Hines Sr., her parents, Willie & Albertha Andrews, her sisters Cora Hill & Linda Parramore, and her brothers Willie Andrews Jr. and Wilbert Andrews Sr.

She is survived by her son, Lester Jr. his wife Keshasha and their children Kayla Hill-Thomas, Mya Thomas, and Trevon Hines; her daughter, Dorothy Boston, her husband Juan and their daughters, Mya, Jasmine "Jazzy", and Destiny Boston all of Humble, TX; Two sisters Marion James(Leroy), Juanita Watson of Beaumont, TX; two brothers Freddie Andrews Sr.(Cynthia Ann) of Beaumont, TX and Harvey Andrews(Melissa) of Watertown, NY; three godsons and a plethora of nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends

My condolences to the family and may God comfort each and every one of you during this time. Im blessed to have met Mrs. Savannah "mama". When I met her she was still up on her feet being the best and most active mom and grandmother. I enjoyed seeing her enjoy her classic motown music while in the kitchen, as Dot would send me videos of these moments. Even during each Dr visit, Dot would turn her music on and mama would just sing along and enjoy the sunlight. Being that Dot was not only my friend, but my neighbor, it filled me with joy when mama would approve the meals Id send over, when Id cooked so much. She loved that okra and wanted more. It warmed my heart to know I had the cook's approval. No matter how she felt, when I came over and said hello, she would give the biggest smile and say hi. I definitely see how strong she was and where Dot get her immaculate strength from. ~Love Your Neighbor and Friend of the Family.
