Simona grew up in Nayarit before meeting her husband, Juan, and moving to the United States. She was a seasonal farmworker, and it was said she could outwork any man in the field. She was also a homemaker, raising children, cleaning house, repairing clothes, and cooking delicious meals. She was famous for her traditional kitchen fare, and everyone who came to visit had a favorite dish she was more than happy to prepare. She also loved to spend time outside working to grow the most beautiful garden in her neighborhood.
Simona was someone who loved to laugh and make others around her joyful. She a jokester who would love to poke fun at others in a playful way, and everyone was happy to spend time with her. But she was also sharp witted and was never afraid to tell you how it was. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
Simona is survived by her husband, Juan Francisco Salazar; her son Johnny Salazar and wife Sylvia of Bakersfield, California; her son Frankie Salazar of Bakersfield, California; and her daughter Linda Flores and husband Gus of Beaumont, Texas; her sisters Chuy Chacon of Tulare, California and Chavela Chacon of Nayarit, Mexico; her grandchildren Chris, Jacob, Isaiah, Clarissa, Simon, Veronica, and Annie. She also leaves behind 9 great grandchildren to cherish her memory.
Simona was preceded in death by her father Esteban Chacon and her mother Tiburcia Martinez; and her grandchild John John.
