Vernon L Turner

Vernon of Beaumont, Texas passed away on February 23, 2023 at Herman Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. Vernon was born January 25, 1930 in Lufkin, TX to the late Virgil and Florence Turner. Vernon met and married the late Rose Fedora Turner in 1952. They were married for 45 years. He later met and married Peggy Cox in 2010. They were married for 13 years. Vernon graduated high school in Sanderson , Texas. He entered the air force in 1950, served for 4 years at Kindley-Field, Bermuda, and Randolph-Field in San Antonio Texas. He was honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant. He moved to Beaumont, Texas in 1957 and graduated from Lamar University with a degree in business. Vernon retired from State Farm insurance as an insurance adjuster.

He was always been active in music and has been in several bands over the years, as well as having his own bands in the area. Vernon played a mean saxophone. He also enjoyed the game of golf, and scored a double eagle when he was 78 years old.

He is survived by his wife Peggy, sister Mary Bush of Houston, TX, his daughter Susan Satterfield of Missouri City, two grandsons, Lee Satterfield and wife Dina Benevidas, and Randy and wife Krystal Satterfield of Missouri City, step children H.L and wife Tandy Cox, Kenneth Cox, and Derek Cox, Sherrie Mcdonald, all of Vidor, and great grandchildren Ian Satterfield, Hunter Anoot, Willow Anoot, and great great grandchildren Aurora, Slater, and Asher.

He was preceded in death by his late wife Rose Fedora Turner, son Vernon Lee Turner Jr., and sisters Jean Stewart and Betty Smith.

A Gathering of Friends and Family for Vernon will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas 77703, followed by a Celebration of Vernon's Life at 1:00 PM.
