My mom left an indelible mark on everyone she met. She was incredibly well loved by her family and friends. Kind, generous, intelligent, and deeply uplifting, she had a rare gift for making people feel seen, valued, and encouraged. She was honest and hardworking, and she believed deeply in doing your best — she loved you enough to help you to your goals.
Her family was one of her great joys, as was supporting the passions of those she loved. Whether it was clearing land and building a house or defending herself from softballs — she was always there, unwavering, and enthusiastic. Her support knew no limits. She loved my dad, thought he was absolutely brilliant and capable of fixing and building anything. They married June 7th, 1986. They shared nearly 40 years together filled with laughter, love, and dreams. She loved my brother, thought he was so generous, loyal, and funny. She enjoyed his music acuity, even if he played it a bit loud. She enjoyed many years of boy scouts, baseball and band with him. She loved my grandmother, her mother. Said hers was the best mother ever, and I could only hope mine was half as good.. though she knew I thought the world of her. They were best friends. She loved me, supported anything I ever wanted to do. Always said some of her favorite memories with me were pitching and traveling for softball, and traveling to Wyoming around the mountains.. though she did say I tried to throw her off the cliff in the car we were driving a time or two.. she's always been my best friend, someone I've aspired to be like.
She loved all her siblings, nieces, and nephews dearly and was so proud of their successes and accomplishments. She loved her friends from work, those that she talked to daily for years and got to share in their lives and who heard all about ours. She was captivating, warm, and welcoming. She truly never met a stranger—only friends she hadn’t yet gotten to know. Her presence filled rooms, her laughter stayed with you, and her kindness changed lives.
She graduated Valedictorian from Kountze High School, Class of 1980. She loved horses, performed in band, flags, and rifles. She loved music, played first chair flute and piccolo in band; even toured across Europe in a high school band — experiences she cherished and that reflected her adventurous spirit. She continued on to Texas A&M University, where she received the Gathright Scholar award as a sophomore. She completed her Bachelor's degree at Lamar University.
She was funny and inquisitive, with a sharp mind and genuine curiosity. She was a genuine math fiend, completed calculus books in her spare time for fun. She loved math and logic games, history, politics, delighted in thoughtful conversation and a good debate, and never stopped learning. Her creativity shone through in everything she did; sewing her wedding dress to designing Halloween and theatre costumes. She had a deep love for reading, writing and art. She had a way with words.. intelligent and engaging. One of her goals this year had been to read more, she had already completed 3 books since December.
Her kindness, brilliance and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all. Her legacy lives on in the countless people she helped, inspired, and loved. She will be forever remembered. Mom was devoted in her faith, a prior member of First Baptist Church in Kountze. She has gone home now to rest and resides with her dad, Neal Morgan Robert, stepfather Larry Greene, stepbrother Larry Greene Jr, and sister Elizabeth Roberts-Bates.
She was a cherished wife, mother, daughter, sister and a dear friend to so many. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 40 years, Royce Dean Doss; son, Joshua Dean Doss; daughter, Kathlyn "Kasey" Aubri Doss; her mother, Kathlyn "Kay" Roberts; brothers, Larry Dale Roberts and wife Patti, Brian Adair Roberts and wife Monique, and Jerry Roberts and wife Valerie; stepsisters, Sharon and Debbie Greene; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family member, and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
