James Lewis Ellison III

James Lewis Ellison III, 73, was born on 11/10/38 in Hot Springs, Arkansas and died peacefully at his home in Portland, Oregon on 11/27/11. He is survived by his spouse of fifty years, Patricia Ellison, five children and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Portland, Oregon on December 2, 2011 at 11:00 am.

Mr. Ellison retired from successful careers in pharmaceutical sales and financial advising. James was active in the Washington County (OR) Republican Party; he was an ardent supporter of the U. S. Constitution and the individual rights and liberties provided to all American citizens. James was active in the BPOE (Elks Club) and maintained membership in the NRA (National Rifle Association).

As a child, James Ellison moved from Arkansas with his mother and brother to Spokane, Washington. James attended Gonzaga Preparatory School and graduated from Gonzaga University (1963) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature. His education at Gonzaga formed his life-long love of Shakespeare and the wisdom imparted through teachings of the Jesuit Order of the Catholic Church.

During his career in pharmaceutical sales, Mr. Ellison attended Portland State University and earned his Masters of Business Administration degree in 1976. Setting an example with his career and education, he sent all five children through college and encouraged each to pursue successful careers of their own choosing.

Mr. Ellison was preceded in death by his parents and brother.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society-Oregon Affiliate.
