It is with great sadness that the family of Joanne Skidmore announce her peaceful passing October 26, 2023, at the age of 86. She was a shining light and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved fiercely, forging a life full of family and friends. Joanne was a devout Catholic who had a deep love for God and her faith. She was committed to living a life that is pleasing to God and dedicated to serving others.
A graduate of University of Portland as a Music major, Joanne shared her passion for music as a elementary music teacher for 20+ years and positively impacted the lives of many students. For the last 59 years, Joanne shared her gift of music with the St. Cecilia Catholic Church community as a cantor, organist, and choir director.
Joanne is survived by three of her children, Mary (Joe), Kathleen (Mark) and John; grandchildren, Chris, Andrew (Natalie), Nick (Kelsey), Casey (Joe), Michelle (Craig), Tessa (Bruno), Ryan, Ben and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Colton, Avellina, Dempsey, Oliver, Ellie, Nolan, Ripley, Olive, and Luka; along with a multitude of other cousins and relatives. Joanne was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Olive Prus; her husband, Robert Skidmore; and her son, David Sidmore.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Joanne at 11 a.m., Friday, November 3, 2023, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Beaverton, with Fr. John Kerns presiding. Recitation of the rosary at 10:30 a.m. Reception following. Private burial with family only.
