Mary Rose (Lemire) Ferraro passed away on November 27, 2025 after a 5 and half month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on November 6, 1948 in Sendai, Japan to Raymond O. Lemire (Connecticut) and Madalyn A. Halaska (Wisconsin) where her father was stationed in the military after World War II. She graduated in 1966 from Nürnberg American High School in Germany, and in 1971 from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts. She was the oldest of 8 children. In 1971 she married her husband Richard (Dick) Ferraro and they celebrated 54 years of marriage in July 2025.
She was the consummate wife, mother and grandmother. Also, in her journey of life, she was a teacher, library assistant and in retirement joined her husband in winemaking activities at their Ferraro Cellar Winery.
Mary had a lifelong love of books, gardening, and good food and wine (mostly Italian cuisine) which she enjoyed sharing those experiences with her friends and family. She could brighten one’s day with her sense of humor and wit. Mary also cherished her time as a grandmother! She loved every single moment she was able to spend with her grandchildren and spoiled them any chance she got.
She is survived by her husband Richard (Dick), sons Tony (Julie) and Dominic (Beth). Grandchildren Gabrielle, Peyton and Colton and siblings Raymond Lemire, Jeanne Lemire, John Lemire (Debbie), Jim Lemire (Dawn) Micki Lemire Duffy (Patrick) and Richard Lemire (Liz). She is preceded in death by her father Raymond, Mother Madalyn and brother Michael.
A catholic funeral mass and memorial will take place in early spring. Details will be published at that time.
Rest in peace Mary!
