P. June Walker

P. “June” Walker was born on June 23, 1932 in Kettering, England. Her father was John Henry Stratford and her mother was Mary Anne Elizabeth Goodman. She had a twin sister, May, who preceded her in death. On January 6, 1955 she married Jim Walker in Thrapston, England . Jim preceded her in death in 1988.

June and Jim moved to the US in 1957 and by the early 1960’s she had become a naturalized US citizen. They had 2 children, David; who died in 1987 and a surviving daughter, Sue Herring, who resides in Newberg. June is also survived by a niece, Sally Hayes and a nephew, Alan Fox both of Ringstead, England, 2 grand daughters; Elaine Gordon & Jennifer Herring and 3 great grandchildren.

June was employed by Tektronix in their manufacturing department for 20 years, retiring in 1995. Since she was such an avid reader, she enjoyed volunteering at the Beaverton City Library during her retirement years. She also took great pride in her yard and was quite meticulous with her gardening efforts. She loved the flowers she planted and enjoyed sharing them with everyone.

Whenever an opportunity arose, you would find her lending a helping hand to her neighbors. In her spare time, when she was resting from the garden and not reading you could find her relaxing with classical music or working on various puzzles, another one of her loves. P. June Walker will be greatly missed.

A shelter service is planned at Willamette National Cemetery on Thursday, May 30, 2013 Please plan to arrive at the cemetery by 9:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory to the Portland Junior Symphony or the Beaverton City Library.
