Paul was born in Helena, Montana to Fred and Elsie Pentz. The family moved to Beaverton, Oregon where Paul grew up. After school he entered the U.S. Navy. He met and married Lenore Mumm during this time period. The family lived in Corona, California and San Diego. Paul was stationed in Hawaii for two years while the family moved to Portland. Paul retired from the Navy in 1960 after twenty years. When he moved to Portland, Paul went to work for the Portland Zoo. His job was working as an animal keeper for eight years. He then went to work for the City of Portland in the Public Parks Department. He retired in 1982. In retirement, Paul taught Hunter Safety Classes and he was involved in the Isaac Walton League. Paul is survived by his sister, Mary Ellen Pentz, children, Carol Pentz, Jim Pentz and grandson, Tim Pentz. No services will be held per his request. Interment will be held at Valley Memorial Park in Hillsboro, Oregon.
