of Religion and Seeker of God, died at 12:01AM on Thursday, June 23rd at Tuality
Hospital, Hillsboro OR, just one month after her 74th Birthday. Susan was born on
May 23rd, 1949 in Fresno CA, to Judith (Judy) Adele Rogers (nee Cassinerio) and
Carl Peter (Pete) Rogers, a Merchant Seaman and Construction worker. Susan
lived for a time as a child in Oregon, and then her parents moved back to
California where she grew up, attending St. Francis High School in Sacramento
and Sacramento City College where she earned an AA, AS, and RN. Her RN career
spanned 25 years and included eight years of intensive IV Therapy Practice as an
IV Therapy Nurse, Resource Nurse, Clinical Float Nurse, IV Consultant and
Instructor, as well as 3 years in Hospice and Home Infusion Therapy. Susan, ever
questing for knowledge, continued studying medicine while she worked as a
nurse, piling up 41 units toward a BRN at Sonoma State, and another 23 in a pre chiropractic science curriculum at Northern California College of Chiropractic.
While studying Nursing in Sacramento, Susan daily passed a gallery featuring the
works of Eugene Garin and was inspired by his paintings in the window to take a
six-week drawing class offered at that gallery, then pick up the brush and start
painting seascapes of her own… A self-taught watercolorist, she went on to travel
through Europe for a year, study Art at the University of Florence for a semester,
study oils here in the US with Dale Momi, and become an accomplished Artist in
her own right. Art was her true passion.
Susan met her husband in Berkeley CA in 1977, they married in 1979, had two
children and celebrated their 44th anniversary on February 5th of this year.
Her time as a young child in Oregon was always chief among her happiest
memories so she and her husband moved to Oregon to retire in 2016, and bought
a home in Hillsboro in 2017 where they have lived since.
Susan is survived by her husband David, her daughter Adele, her son Dave and
two younger sisters: Lydia and Antonia (Tony).
