Charles Allen Hunter

80, passed away on July 25, 2014. Charles was born on June 15, 1934, to the late E. Allen and Mary Hunter. He was a graduate of Beech Grove High School in 1952 and was a lifelong resident of Beech Grove. Charles graduated from the I-U school of business and received his ROTC commission in 1956. He was a 1st Lt. in the US Army at Ft. Bliss, Texas from 1956 – 1958. Charles retired from the Department of HUD-FHA and was a part of Indiana Real Estate Brokers, Rentals & Investments. Charles was a 50 year member of the Beech Grove Masonic Lodge and the Columbia Club, as well as a Scottish Rite Murat Shriner. Charles was a former Republican precinct committeeman and an alternate delegate to the Republican National Convention in 2000. He was on the board for the Beech Grove Library and a lifelong member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church. He was very devoted to his family and he enjoyed the study family genealogy. Charles very much enjoyed world travel and had attended numerous Summer Olympics. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, E. Allen and Mary Hunter. He is survived by his sister, Thelma “Susie” (Tom) Harkness-Thompson; nephews, Allen (Lisa) Harkness and Jay (Lisa) Harkness and niece, Cindi (Mark) Harkness McElroy. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, 2014 at Little and Sons Beech Grove Chapel from 5:00-8:00p.m. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Washington Park East cemetery.
