87, of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012. He was born January 30, 1925 in Indianapolis to the late Everett and Pearl Spitz. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. George was a grocer at National Tea Co. for 35 years and owned a small store in Sheridan and Logansport. He was a member of the Southport Masonic Lodge for 52 years and enjoyed gardening, fishing, and watching Indiana team sports. He is survived by his loving wife, Jewell D. Spitz; son, Herschel Thomas Spitz (wife, Myrna); and sisters, Marie Overmyer and Alice Lightner. Visitation will be Saturday, September 1, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Little & Sons Funeral Home, Beech Grove Chapel, where the funeral will immediately follow at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
