Georgena was a formal and respectful presence in the lives of those who knew her. A dedicated student, she was Valedictorian of Gamalial High School in 1954. She later met the love of her life and married Thomas Pierson in 1956, celebrating 57 years together before his passing in 2013.
Georgena worked at St. Francis Hospital and Eli Lilly before choosing to stay home to be with their three children. She also served for many years as the bookkeeper for the family’s snow removal business. Her steady care for home and family was matched by her commitment to others, volunteering with Meals On Wheels, church Bible School, Cub Scouts, PTO, and in anything her children were a part of. She was a passionate gardener, growing vegetables and flowers galore.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 57 years, Thomas Pierson; her parents, Prentice and Annie Mae Hood; and her three brothers, Ted, Tommie, and Terry.
She is survived by her sister, Joyce; her children, Janet (James) Skinner, Mike Pierson, and Judy (Tom) Eagan; eight grandchildren—Matthew, Anna, and Michael (Whitney) Skinner, Cody Pierson, Jennifer Styer, Shildes V (Reba) McCaslin, Austin Eagan, and Anthony (Christiana) Eagan; and eight great-grandchildren—Brynn Mason, Grant, Dalton, and Quinton Styer, Shildes VI McCaslin, and Blakely, River, and Wilder Eagan.
Georgena will be deeply missed by her family.
Visitation will be held at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 1301 Main Street, Beech Grove, IN 46107, on March 21, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 PM.
