

A long-time resident of Beech Grove, John was known for his hard-working, humorous, kind-hearted, and loyal nature. He was a resilient, stubborn, wise, patient, generous, and gentle soul who touched the lives of many.
John retired from Citizen's Energy after 46 years of service, where he made significant contributions throughout his career.
He married Rosie Barger on July 13, 1991, and together they shared a life filled with love and adventure. John and Rosie cherished their time together, especially when going for motorcycle rides.
An avid reader, John was a motorcycle safety instructor for Abate and worked First Aid for the Red Cross. He had a passion for the Trans Siberian Orchestra and was a fan of Star Trek.
John is preceded in death by his brother, Michael Barger; sister, Laura Dorsett; grandson, Caleb Barger; great-grandson, James Michael Murphy, brother-in-law, Herman Feldhake.
He is survived by his parents, John Sr. and Margaret Barger; his beloved wife, Rosie Barger; his children, Dorothy (Aaron) Hensley-Klue, James Hensley, Christopher (Billie) Barger, Darrell (Autumn) Barger, and Matthew Barger; his siblings, Christina (Joe) Allen, Elizabeth Feldhake, and Cecelia (Tim) Poynter; his grandchildren, Jacob (Courtney) Murphy, Andrew (Megan) Hensley, Brooklyn Barger, Sam Hensley, and Nevaeh Barger; and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Critical Care Unit at St. Francis Hospital for their exceptional care and dedication to John during his time there.
