

Kurt R. Loy, a dedicated public servant and lifelong resident of Beech Grove, Indiana, passed away at the age of 72. Known for his unwavering commitment to community and public safety, Kurt devoted his life to serving others with integrity, compassion, and quiet strength.
Kurt’s career spanned decades in law enforcement, emergency medical services, and public safety. He served with distinction at the Perry Township Constable Office since 2002, following many years of leadership at the Lawrence Township Constable Office. He also served as a Civil Sheriff with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, where he upheld the law and protected the rights of countless citizens. Throughout his career, he managed employees, enforced court judgments, and served as a court bailiff, always carrying out his duties with fairness and professionalism.
Kurt began his service to the community as an Emergency Medical Technician for Riverview Hospital, Wishard Hospital, and local ambulance services, and later as a Corrections Officer. Whether assisting patients in emergency rooms or responding to crisis calls in the field, Kurt showed calm, care, and courage in times of need.
In addition to his public service, Kurt worked in security roles for DowElanco and spent time in sales with Sears Roebuck & Company and Disney Tire. He continually sought out professional development, completing numerous specialized trainings, including firefighting, hazardous materials handling, and safety instruction.
Kurt earned an Associate’s Degree in General Studies from Indiana University and completed training at the Tucker School of Real Estate. A lifelong learner and active community member, he served as a Precinct Committeeman for 19 years and was a proud member of the Irvington Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Murat Shrine.
Beyond his professional life, Kurt had a deep passion for technology, photography, swimming, scuba diving, traveling, and music. He was curious, creative, and kind, always eager to learn something new or lend a helping hand.
He leaves behind a legacy of service, humility, and dedication that touched many lives.
A celebration of life service will be held August 8, 2025 at Little and Sons Funeral Home: 1301 Beech Grove, IN 46107 at 3pm. Family and friends are invited for a time to gather and visit beginning at 1pm.
