Lewis Ray Shake

Lewis Ray “Lew” Shake, 71, of Indianapolis passed away August 9, 2018 after a long battle with Parkinson’s. Lew was born in Indianapolis the son of the late Owen Lewis and Vida Lavern (Houldson) Shake. After graduating from Ben Davis High School, Lew attended Ivy Tech for two years taking a course in Auto Maintenance. He then worked at Cummins Diesel for over 18 years. Lew also repaired and built custom motorcycles, entering them in competitions and winning numerous trophies over a five year span. He later worked at Perry Manufacturing, Success America, and Dominion Mortgage and partnered in his own mortgage brokerage firm, One Source Mortgage. In 1981 he started the Columbus Air Show, moving it to Mt. Comfort Air Field in Indianapolis in 1982. He produced those for over 10 years. He married Rise Hoover Roessler and they lived on the southeast side of Indianapolis. Lew is survived by his wife Risë; his son Ray; step-daughter, Marcella Roessler, step-daughter Renáe (Roessler) Schoening and her husband Jon of Indianapolis; sister, Diana Rolfson and her husband Kenneth of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Damon Roessler and his wife Linda, Tori Roessler, Grant, Maggie, Jack, Maria, Dominic and Luke Schoening; his great-grandchild, Brooke Roessler. Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 17, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 1301 Main Street Beech Grove, Indiana. Visitation will be held Thursday 5-8 PM and 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Lewis was a tissue donor and donated his brain to The University of Maryland School of Medicine for Parkinson’s research.
